We will start with David...
In December we took the kid in for a well child check-up... Mostly we just really needed him to get a refill on his asthma meds since his asthma has been kinda bad this winter and we were out. With our new pediatrician from out of town its standard for them to do a FULL well child check on the kids first visit to them. Well they discovered that David had a bit of a hernia... seeing as this is our second child to have one (McCaul had one when he was 2 month old) we are thinking it might be a bit hereditary. At any rate we scheduled him to get in to see the surgeon thinking this is probably why it has been hurting him to ride his bike for the last 9 months or so. So we took him in and the surgeon on exam decided that the hernia was actually rather large and included a hydrocele. We lucked out and the surgeon was awesome and actually got David in for surgery the next day... this was so nice and saved us a trip. David was out of school for a few days but healed really really well. He was in pain for a couple days but nothing that couldn't be handled with a bit of medicine and he was pretty much back to being a menace right away... Its been two weeks and he doesn't act the slightest bit affected any more. The dr told us it would be bruised and swollen but no... there is the tiniest of little bruises next to the incision and then its just a bit swollen but that will apparently take months to go away... and its really really mild. So David is all put back together... no more holes that don't belong.
Here is a pic of him after surgery... about the only thing he liked about surgery was that he got to eat a Popsicle for breakfast. (I think they gave this to him to help with his scratchy throat since he was put out all the way and they use a breathing tube).

So after his surgery we headed home in the car. It was a bit maddening of a drive... seems all those IV fluids hit David halfway home and he suddenly had to stop and go pee about every 10 to 15 minutes... I kid you not we stopped maybe 10 or so times to let him go potty. I am just glad we got through the first hour and a half before it hit or it would have been a long ride home...lol. So during one of those stops I called home to check in with the family and let them know where we were. That's when Sheldon told me Nathan came home from school with a sore tooth. I told him to call the dentist but he didn't... So when I got home I found a sore little boy with an abscessed tooth and a closed dentist cause it was too late. In the morning he was in alot of pain and had been up most of the night and by this time his cheek was swelling quite a bit too. By the time we got to the dentist he was too swollen and the dentist pretty much took a look at him and wrote him a script for antibiotics and sent us home for 2 weeks. It took almost a week for the swelling to go all the way away and Nathan stayed home for another day because of the pain. He was in more pain than David.
Here is a picture of his swollen little cheek... It doesn't do it justice but its here for the record.
He went and got the offending tooth pulled on Monday afternoon. We were afraid he wouldn't cooperate but with a bit of bribery and a few tears he opened up. He really hates the numbing stuff they give you at the dentist but didn't even feel the dentist pull his tooth. And he got a nice dollar from the tooth fairy from his efforts and a toy plane from the store from his mom.
Zephen and McCaul have just been bored. Seems they depend on David and Nathan to supply alot of the major evening entertainment... They did get to go with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Shauna to Utah for the weekend while Sheldon's cousin Kenny got home from his mission and was speaking in church. I think they had fun judging on the mess of toys they came home with and it was far more entertaining that watching their brothers lay about in pain. Their newest development has been something you cannot really see. Its hard to explain but their expression in the way they speak has taken a jump. They have been saying the funniest things, expressing things in past, present, and future, and describing ideas they have. With it has come a bit of attitude and teasing. Sometimes I just have to bite my tongue at what I hear cause I want to laugh but in reality its not a way I want them to continue talking.
Here is a funny picture of Zephen sleeping... he was eating snack and kept playing on his chair on his belly and after checking on him once I found him snoozing away.
We have put our foot down with Keziah insisting she talk more instead of just yelling or grunting at us and I think after a few weeks it has made a difference. She is starting to use her words more and regularly.
The night the above picture was taken she surprised us a bit. We bought donuts for the kids as a treat and gave her a simple bar with chocolate frosting on it. We thought it was funny and took a picture... but then when we went to clean her up the poor child was bright red and spotted everywhere that chocolate had touched. We plopped her in the bath and gave her some benedryl and by the next am is was mostly gone. We tried to test it out again but didn't get a reaction though I wonder if we left it on long enough. I am going to try it again and see. I just want to make sure she isnt allergic to chocolate cause if it does that on the outside what could it be doing when she eats it.
And this next picture is of her eating her favorite snack... she absolutely loves to be given and apple to just chomp away at. If given the opportunity she will eat every last bit seeds and all...
David's birthday was delayed a couple days between his surgery and a bunch of family being out of town but we celebrated it two days late. He had a volcano cake and got lots of fun presents and money. I do have pictures but they are on other cameras not available to me at this time... its a trend for me to get so caught up in gathering gifts and cakes to forget our camera... but we got some with Aunt Shauna and Grandpa's camera. So I will post some of those another day.
