Happy Birthday Nathan!

Sorry I haven't posted sooner. Seems we get one set of kids better and the next set goes. Yesterday we started off pretty rough. McCaul woke up having trouble breathing, and Nathan woke up puking. He seemed to be over the throwing up by 9 and just perked up but McCaul spent the rest of the day needing his mother. We took him to the dr in the afternoon and she said it sounded like he might be looking at being just like David with the asthma. She gave him some antibiotics and albuterol for the nebulizer and some prednisone for the next couple days. He is much better today.

Keziah has a bit of news...Her first tooth finally popped through. As soon as its big enough to take a picture of I will be sure to do so. She did get an appointment with Primary Children's on the 8th of June she will being going in the morning for some tests and in the afternoon for her dr appointment.

So the last week was mostly Nathan's. Last Saturday we invited Travis and Tianna and Trenton and Tiffany out to have a combined birthday party with Trenton (whose birthday was earlier this month) and Nathan. We had some cool pirate ship cakes I made for them and a treasure chest pinata. Nathan got race tracks, and cars, and money and a singing card. He was VERY happy with his winnings.

We started the day with the little league breakfast in Ely and then walked over and looked at the race cars. Each of the kids picked out a race car to take a picture by. I have pictures but they are on Alice's camera so we will have to wait for another post.

So really the last week was all about Keziah.. If you recall last weeks post mentioned her having a fever. Something that started out innocent enough. The poor girls fever got worse and worse. And unfortunately the medical care in the area just bites. So we only really trust one doctor in our area. Well Monday the dr was out and Tuesday as well. Both days Keziah did nothing but sleep in her mommy's arms. She didnt even cry. We were constantly fighting with tylenol, motrin, baths, and washcloths to keep her 104 fever under some reasonable control.

Finally Wednesday our dr was back in and got her in to be seen in the morning. We though maybe she had a bad ear infection but dr said her ears looked absolutely perfect. And there were no other noticeable problems so we had to run a gammut of tests. They did a blood test that only showed and elevated white blod cell count (indicating she was fighting some sort of infect), a chest exray (I should have refused this one cause the kid didnt even have a stuff nose nothing to indicate a problem there) a strep swab (I actually had strep throat a month ago and I guess its still going around so they dr wanted to check) and finally a urine test. Yep the last thing was it. She had a raging urinary tract infection. Something apparently uncommon in babies. Since she was sooo sick they gave her a shot of antibiotics and a prescription to take home. Well we got home and gave her her meds and that entire night she spent throwing up and dry heaving. Not good for a little girl already on the brink of dehydration for refusing to do anything more than breastfeed and sleep while fighting 104 fevers. Called the next morning got a new medicine assuming thats what it was. But she really wasnt improved at all so we took her back in to the dr that afternoon. Dr wanted to put her in the hospital for IV antibiotics and fluids but agree to let us take her home with another shot and a promise to keep her hydrated as much as possible and if she starts throwing up again to bring her in immediately (our dr was on call that night) and regardless to bring her in first thing in the morning. So we took her home and she slept much better only waking up 2 times that night. By morning her fever was gone. The dr that morning told us she was sure Keziah would need to be admitted and we would be back in the middle of the night. But she pulled through and turned the corner by friday morning. She is just now starting to eat again. She lost 1 and a half pounds through that (alot when you only wat 15 pounds) but she seems to be gaining it back now that she is on the mend.
Apparently babies aren't supposed to get urinary tract infections, it usually means something might be wrong so we have been referred to primary childrens to get some tests done for her.

Really most of our week was taken with Keziah. The kids got fed but it wasnt the most nutritious the house fell apart and pretty much nothing fun happened. I am trying to work in recover mode doing two weeks worth of laundry and cleaning this mess of a house. It will happen though.

We did manage to get one thing done. Mostly out of necessity. During one of Keziah's naps we took the kids outside and planted a couple trees. They had fun though I am not sure if the trees will make it. Hopefully!

And I have one funny video to share. One of those days I gave the twins lunch and apparently they were very tired. Both fell asleep at the table. It was funny. I am not sure if the video does it justice or not but I will share anyways.

Smokey Bear and some Bummers

This week had a couple happy things and a couple bummers.

First the happy. We spent last Tuesday at school all morning. The twins had a blast hanging out in Kindergarten and first grade. The reason we spent so much time there. We were waiting for Smokey Bear. At first the twins were a bit afraid of him. They refused to hug him in Kindergarten but finally consented that it wasn't too intimidating to give him five. So they gave him five. Then it was recess time so we played outside for recess with everyone and then went across the hall to first grade to visit with Smokey a second time. This time with a bit more experience under their belts they decided they wanted to hug him. Here are some pictures... sorry the florescent lights are awful for the camera.

To add even more fun to the day we went back after school and they were doing the Star Lab and Mrs. Jenny was nice enough to allow us to go inside and see. Its basically a big blow up planetarium. Its really cool and we got to look at just the stars and Native American constellations and Regular constellations. It was alot of fun. But we couldn't exactly take pictures of that.

On Saturday we had a special treat planned. Sheldon was chaperoning the Youth Temple trip. We thought it would be great to take the boys down and hang out on the Temple grounds while everyone else was inside. Well our friends also had their dad going so we arranged for our friends to ride with us in the suburban, we left the twins and Keziah behind with Grandma and Grandpa Nicholes. Loaded everyone up handed out breakfast and about the time I got around 8 miles out the suburban was acting funny like the alternator was going. I stopped right there and turned around. Unfortunately we made it to maybe a mile or 2 away from town and it broke down completely so we had so many people it took two cars to come pick us up. So bummer was we couldn't go to the temple on Saturday. We took the kids back up to Grandma and Grandpas house and their friends and played for a while. Then they went home and we hung out til lunch. Then we went home and somewhere in the meantime Grandpa Warren towed the suburban back to his house. We invited our friends over for dinner which was alot of fun too. I left the Camera in the subruban though so I missed out on photos for a few days. Grandpa fixed the Suburban Monday afternoon (or was it Tuesday??) and we had it all back in good shape. It was the alternator... We must be rough on those puppies cause we have had to replace them in every car we have every owned.

Keziah finally has enough hair to do something other than just headbands. Barely. We can get a little pony tail in there. It was super cute on Sunday with a little bow too, but remember the camera was in the suburban.


She is also pulling up on everything and standing. Its kinda funny cause she is barely 8 months old and she is so little and she gets stuck in the splits position alot. She is pretty fond of this skill though and will walk along behind stuff too. The last two days she has had a fever making her be quite the little crab but hopefully she will be over this soon. No other noticeable problems just a fever and fussiness. :-(

I got a new toy too... A treadmill. I hope it will help me alot. It took alot to get it set up and find a place for it but we succeeded yesterday and I did my first workout on it yesterday. Sheldon's knees are doing alot better with his Laser treatments and we are hoping they continue to improve.
